'Signed D.C.' is basically Arthur’s solo about the perils of drug addiction. DC aka Don Conka was Love's original drummer, who because of his addiction was dropped from the recording of the first album. DC could not be counted on for appearances at rehearsals & gigs. He was always late or never showed at all, because had to get drugs. You can identify any song by The Stones, The Byrd’s the Kinks, even The Beatles, but you cannot pin down the sound they developed playing in Arthur's garage. 'Signed D.C. was written as though it was found on a note after his OD, in his magnificent bedroom in the Castle (also called Talmadge House, at 4320 Cedarhurst Circle, Los Feliz area of Los Angeles) where the band lived together. Conka passed away in 2004, Lee in 2006.
