My interpretatin:
Someday we'll meet again and maybe then I'll forgive you and thank you for the lessons learned without having to express my feelings in a song.
I can imagine strumming violently on a guitar (the strings) / (the only way some know how to express themselves) about a break up or whatever bothersome nature.
Or, someday when we meet again, I can thank you without wasting my energy on writing a song about you.
