There's at least some ready to light fire and revolutionary 'social commentary' passion in this song. Yes, the instrumentation is chilling, relaxing and sonic. But the lyrics have venom. I feel David Gray is feeling isolated and lonely at the world; its eerie dark SNOBBISH UNCARING $ELFISH silences of Western Suburbia, night after night & aeon upon aeon. We yearn with him to recapture the innocence & untainted hope of childhood & ''wild'' birth, now marred in adulthood (even tainted teenage years) by the rat race STUCK UP a$$ pursuits of modern capitalism. Definitely hints of John Lennon, so go DG!
'...never noticing the war
until it's right there at your door...'
