I interpret this song as being about someone who is addicted to drugs (first three stanzas), kicking the addiction and becoming a born again Christian (next four stanzas), then - if you read the chronology of the song literally - relapsing into the addiction.

The first three stanzas sound exactly like someone being high on methamphetamine (in addition to the namedropping of amphetamine): not sleeping, flushed face, drooling, seeing bright and brilliant lights/colors. After this, the song's lyrics take on a lot of Judeo-Christian symbolism before returning to "As long as I live and there's blood in my arms, this day is brighter than bombs." "Blood in my arms" is a rather unusual metaphor for being alive, but makes perfect sense in the terms of shooting methamphetamine.
