In the first stanza, I believe Miike Snow is trying to say that we seem to have a general consensus that we have to find our soul-mates here, and that it's okay to discriminate by finding someone who can truly change your life.
I don't really understand the last stanza. Maybe he did ecstasy and didn't know how he came down but knows that he was harmed. (this is a stretch)
