This song is well written, i believe its about parents, either theirs or just in the story of the song, but the sea and the shore are metaphores for mom and dad, and he is the son "sun". parents tell kids there life stories all the time (war, trips, decisions being made, etc) so when he says "the books that i keep by my bag, are fulll of your stories, that i drew up in a little dream of mine, a little nightmare of yours" is a kids dream and the dads nightmare. kids always want to be like there parents. and if you breakdown the other lyrics you can start to see what im saying. ...and these lyrics are somewhat out of order... in this next part is the second last verse in the song. "so make are your last demands, for i will forsake you, and our eyes meet for the very first time for the very last" . in the story, theyre talking about being born and seeing you for the first time to losing your parents and meeting theyre eyes for the very last time. and then she goes on to see a man that smiled, and that reminded her of her dad... in my opinion this song is very sad, but one of my favorites and is very strongly written. (what do you think, am i wrong or right?)

Sounds correct to me, and I'll think of this song in this way from now on.
