Kaleidoscope Lyrics

From looking at the "Put the butterfly in the bill jar" line, I get this:

Chasing butterflies can be a metaphor for chasing your dreams, particularly if they seem impossible. Putting a butterfly in the "bill jar", could be equivalent to putting nothing but your time into chasing your dreams and having nothing to show for it, struggling therefore to pay your bills with such spent time.

My Interpretation

That would make sense, but the actual lyric is "bell jar", which is a kind of jar for displaying things such as butterflies. Google it.

@Kira-chan Maybe he means giving up on your dreams to follow a path which is dictated by the expectations of others or the necessity of fulfilling other demands.\r\n\r\nBefore I was aware of the band reforming and then coming apart, shortly after this album, I assumed this song was about alienation and loneliness. \r\n\r\n\r\nThe adverts on this site make it almost unusable on a smartphone.
