Not sure about it but I'm thinking this is about (or at least includes) the birth of Christianity, and moreover, monotheism. The "symbols" are runes and markers of pagan religions, representing simple natural phenomena like the Sun and snow. Also, the lyrics above are incomplete, but the "blood feast for a sage" lyric could refer to the blood shed during the time of Christ (the sage.)
Then again, it could just be another relationship song with typical DiJ imagery.
