I think this song is about feeling that life is stagnant and alcoholism is no longer an adequate method of coping with the lack of progress ;

Maybe finding "somewhere else to live" is meant to mean finding some other way of living - finding a way of life that is fresh and progressive rather than stagnant and preventative of emotional progress away from the black hole of self-pity (and alcoholism as the last-resort defense against self-hatred.
