I always thought the three verses some how tied Slug to the whole song.
In the first verse a younger Slug fell for this one girl, that's how he chose to begin rapping in order to get her attention. Sadly the girl had another person she loved so nothing happen between them.
Second verse is from slug's girls [might be the same from the first verse] point of view years later down the road. At this point Slug is going all over the United States Rapping and performing. She feels like there's no point on holding on to that type of relationship so she leaves him. Possibly falls for someone else.
Last verse is from slug's point of view. He knows that he keeps fucking up with her, and he needs to do something in order to save the relationship. Finally when he was about to seal the deal and finally settle down, she dumped him, friend zoned him and moved on.
And the whole cycle began all over and over again.
