When you're truly devoted to someone, it brings out all the positive vibrations and power to make a change in your life. But it isn't enough. We need a feedback from the person we are devoted to. We need a green light or any sign that our participation is welcome.
In the song, at first, she is willing to let everyone know how true her love is, how special that person is for her.
All that she asks is a hope. Something that'll hold her onto that feeling (devotion) she feels inside.
In one specific moment she's in denial, she tries to convince herself that she still believes in him...THEN it comes to this:
" I was frozen, I was going
in a blade of grass
I'm running out of honey
I'm living in the past"
She's realizes that her will to love this person isn't enough, but just for a moment. She's running out of honey (it can be translated: not enough time/hope/strength/love...etc), but she's still going, she's not giving up on him, even though she knows that things can't change much, because "she's living in the past hanging on the blade of grass" (heart on a sleave - would do anything for love)
It's a fight. For him, against herself. She's losing a fight, but not giving up on it. Spunky! :)
