I believe the song is talking about drugs. "Where you gonna sleep today..." many times artists use "sleep" as a euphemism for getting high on drugs. "Where you waking up today..." many times when people are in the throngs of their addiction there is no telling where it will take them.

"When you feel like everyone wants to kill the unicorn..." at some point, those around an addict will try to get them to stop their behavior and habit.
