SPOILERwell since this song did come from the hunger games soundtrack this is how im going to relate it:

katniss and her father always spent time together, and would piknik in the woods and do everything together.
"No, I ain't comin' in.

but then her father had to go to work at the mines and promised her his return.
"Then she got up her arrow and bow

so katniss goes to forest and hunts while she sings the song her father taught her and while there she recieves a suprise.

then a mockingjay 'told' her that there was an explosion in the mines and her father has passed.

Katniss is saddend and furios by the news so plans to kill the bird that told her the news of events

then the mockingjay tells her to not seek revenge, but to go help her family that will have tough times now that her father is dead.

Katniss then goes home and comforts her sister as her mother slips into a deep depression, and becomes the strong on in her family.
