I think anybody can relate to this. Sometimes we need to sacrifice a thing in order to make someone happy, and sometimes we hurt the people we love, and in the end we feel sorry. Sometimes we blame ourselves for things that happen and we feel obliged to correct our mistakes and make up for them especially if we knew that we are the reason why our bond with a certain person was broken. I think most of us come to the point that we regret things that we do, and sometimes we were on a stage of saying “If only I could turn back the time….If only I could undo everything…..” Based on my own experience, hurting someone and asking forgiveness is not enough for you to be able to achieve inner peace. I think the one you hurt would also say the word, “I forgive you”. And the most painful part of a broken relationship as of course the moment you realize that no matter or whatever it is that you will do, things will never be the same again.
To be able to gain what is lost is a difficult and painful process, and can only be achieve if both person will set aside anger, hate and pain, and let only love to flow in their hearts.
I also love the idea of what the friend might do in order for his friend as reflected in the lines, “take my breath as your own, take my eyes to guide you home”. It reminds me of things that some friends had done for me and it’s just amazing to have a friend who is willing to do certain things for you and they do it because they love you.
