Out Of The Dark Lyrics

What an amazing song. The lyrical composition is so solid and formal. This song has become a sort of anthem, because I haven't heard of many songs with a similar line to "'Cause the world I've discovered, it feels nothing like my heart." I've only found Between The Trees's "Scarecrow" to have that vibe.

The phrase "I'm busy erasing voices of the dead" never had a quite obvious meaning, but if you look at the context, you might notice something. The second part of the first verse mentions negative thoughts and concludes them with the line "I wanna replace this darkness in my head". So, when I looked back to see if the first part of the first verse had the same format, there it was. Hires opened the song with thoughts of reduction (I'm burned out and wasted. I'm tired of pacing.). If you follow the format that follows, it seems that he uses "...erasing voices of the dead" to refer to that feeling that you get when you're overcome with negative thoughts and you're trying to shake them off; so maybe "voices of the dead" refers to all the aspects of his thought process that come from a place of waste.

I could be reading too much into it, but I'd like to believe that the song is really just written that well. The rest of the song makes a lot of sense. That was the only part of the song that I couldn't digest. Awesome.
