I think the song is pretty straight forward with its meaning:
I think this song starts off with a boy and girl being together. The narrator hints at the fact that the two are friends and the girl obviously has feelings for the boy (She had him to herself perhaps as more than friend). The two obviously become physical with each other and have sex. The boy says something to the girl, something that makes her happy. These moments in the song are meaningful to the girl and make her feel on top of the world that's why the chorus is repeated after these events in the song. It is also evident that the girl isn't very accustomed to dating or even the feeling of love (the narrator hints at this in the line: Maybe it's love. How would she know?). Or at least this is my interpretation. Either way, I find this song freaking awesome.
I agree with this but I think it's the girls perspective. I think what she doesn't know is the guy, her "friend" is a womanizer and now that she has crossed that line with him their friendship is over. Now she's just another notch. That's what I get from the video and all the different women in his bed. ...Sorry for the dark twist but remember this is SWR not Mariah or something lol
