Oh dear...Mr. Monticello, I don't mean to be difficult, but...Tiny Cities, the Sun Kil Moon album of Modest Mouse covers, uses a selection of MM songs to present an overarching narrative: someone loses a loved one, and does a bunch of questionable things (like drugs) to deal with it, and finally achieves some kind of catharsis or resolution, sort of. Trucker's Atlas is a song about doing hard drugs all by yourself (either coke or speed, not sure which), with the intention of getting away from something unpleasant (like a bad memory); specifically, snorting something off of the cover of a road atlas. Brock sings it like a young man, when it still seems like a good idea; Kozelek sings it like an older man, when there's nothing sadder than doing hard drugs all by yourself. And he nails it. It's a beautiful cover of a great song.
