I think this song is about this guy, who still has his head stuck in the past and that's all he ever really thinks about, is the past, although he wouldn't admit that.
He always probably doesn't want to be to forward with the girl who once loved him, and is waiting for her to make the moves, but he has changed and obvious she wont feel the same about him again but that breaks him since he can't help how he has become and she's still the same.
