At least that's how it always felt to me, Anselmo is telling his fans to live the kind of life he did and be a metalhead (bad mother fucker). The song goes through the stages of... conversion I guess, first he's describing the people he's changing, then he says, "Drop the needle and stop what you're changing into." And the end line, "So I'm done with saving you, a gift unto myself, a tired savior" is Anselmo just clearing things up.
