FINALLY!! A song with lyrics I get! (Or at least I feel like I do)
I think he's talking about the constant ebb and flow of life. It goes from absolute high's to total lows and in effect puts us into a sort of psychosis.
But the important part is the chorus,
"And I see that it makes me anti-everything"
Here I think the "it" he's talking about is life
"And I see that makes me want to shed my skin"
This is the opposite value. Its that breaking point where you refuse to let the anti-everything aspect of life get you down, and as a result YOU take charge and YOU make something out of it.
I think if you look at the reference to religion as more of a reference to a generalized way of thinking you see the song isn't necessarily about drug use or religion but rather through taking all the adversities of life, overcoming them and defining your life on your own terms. Life is the psychosis, religion is the start of your own personal revolution against the norm so to speak.
Most times there's good reason for the norm;) And often personal revolutions are positive....when people decide to go WITH the flow rather than continue to bang their heads against the wall. Sorry, but so many 'movements' make me think of bowels. LUV LUV LUV the band!
