i think the "boom and a bang" refers to when the relationship got physical and he hit her by accident
and that's why they took him out of the forces
he's depressed he regrets what he did and wants things to go back to the way they were
he's trying to apologize and try again but she's being agressive i.e "I'm not gonna fight you again"
she's not listening
