A Lot Like Birds is just an amazingly talented band. They work together so perfectly, especially the vocalists. Kurt went above and beyond anything he could have done in Dance Gavin. Especially starting at "love's a splendored thing" where they're basically talking as if they were in the relationship. Obviously one has their doubts about the feelings they once had, "the fires gone and now its dark". But since he probably broke it off, he's still lonely and tries to drink it away "my thirst is now met in bars" but he knows the relationship he did have wasn't legitimate because his mate was probably just desperate and scared of being alone "And not the fake embrace of needy arms". It was real at first, but the passion just eventually died out, they're both lonely but at least he knows what they did have just isn't healthy. That's just what I got out of it because that's the exact same situation I'm in. Maybe I'm just connection the two.

Yep. Samesies. Plucks at my heart strings.
