NOT about the Vietnam War specifically because "drums and cannons" were not part of that war. I believe it's about war in general...war throughout the ages. And I think Buckley wanted us to realize that war begins and ends in our minds. The actually physical battles are just symptoms of our frightened, greedy, arrogant minds.
