This song definitely criticizes the US government and its seemingly infinite ability to put profits above it's own people. But it also shows that its not only the government that is the problem, but the peoples' as well. It seems to show that people just jump on the bandwagon, many of the lyrics, as said in the comment above describe it perfectly. I feel as if he's saying that spreading awareness and buying hybrid cars and organics won't solve any problems because it all goes back to the economic problem. The government makes money off of consuming, and that is the only thing America does anymore, we produce and sell very little here, besides bombs, tanks and guns.

I really also enjoy the fact that he put in references towards The Bluest Eye and 1984, both really fuckin good books.

"reapplied the laws of the bluest eye and the made the truest shade of grey"

"rules are the same game speak in doublethink with the action based on guilt holier than thou type thing"

Sims is the man, and people need to listen to what he's actually saying. We need to have a little bit of solidarity as a nation, and maybe with time, as a species, but we need to stop living in constant fear. Constant fear of outsiders and each other.
