This reminds me so much of the thoughts that ran through my head while I studied abroad. Those people were the best friends I've ever had; we were all united by being removed from our normal elements. I miss them so much that my heart hurts.
That's what I think the song is about--people being united and in love, removed from what they recognize as home, and the pain that comes along when that time ends, when it's time to move on to the next thing. It is so beautiful but it makes me so sad I can hardly bear it.
