I've always thought that this song is, as far as religious rock songs go, the perfect specimen.
Standing on its own, it's both a love song to God, but works just as strongly as a love song to another person. Romantic love, friendly love, familial love, love of God–it's all here in this song because the lyrics are just open enough.
