I think the song is about a gay guy, and his parents don't know that, so they try to find him a girlfriend, but she realises he's gay ("I ain't what you're after"). Eventually, he comes out to his parents, and they have a really hard time with this news, they're disappointed in him.

-It sounds like it, and it would make sense is its the pastor's daughter. I feel his mom could see it coming through, and decided to take him to the "wholesome pastor" to "fix him" or "set him straight" (mind the pun)
Anyways, I love the song, and if it IS actually about coming out, I think its a fantastic portrayal of a realistic situation. Keep listening to Hollerado!
