The Amity Affliction are some of the best lyricists out there in hardcore music, along with Parkway Drive and Trivium.

I think this song is about addiction, drug addiction, alcohol addiction. I think his "tormentors" are these substances, and hell is the depth of his addiction. When he reaches it he "finds the steel". This means that he would rather smash his skin until it's calloused etc, then go without drugs and alcohol. And that it's causing him this damage. While it feels like his back is breaking and he's gracing the presence of the vultures, which is the reality of his situation, he feels like he's spitting fire of the gods, like he is a god. His "journey through the mirror" is his transformation from sober to under the influence. One of the biggest indicators is "I took a blade, a glass, a noose and then I smashed my mind in two with a bottle, pills and notion that I could drink my problems dead". He armed himself with the weapons to harm himself then convinced himself it was good, I mentioned something along those lines earlier.

The chorus, come and break my heart it's mine, I think is referring to people telling him to stop etc. For example, a teenager yelling at their mum saying "it's my life!". He is telling people to stop judging him and to stop trying to intervene because in his selfish state he thinks it doesn't concern them. The story he has to tell is the song and the path he has chosen is drugs and alcohol, and if you follow him, you'll die young.

That's my opinion anyway :D hope everyone liked it.
