My quite straightforward interpretation is that the songs female protagonist is seeming this guy that, according to the author, doesn't really deserve her. The main reason for this is proclaimed to be that he doesn't really know anything about her and can't be bothered to find out even though it's probably not that hard (just observing her would be a good start, the first verse really examplifies this). The songwriter furthermore seem to find the man a bad influence on her by making her subconcious about herself.
