I think this song starts out telling about a guy telling about the pain he goes through every day dealing with the pain and emptyness that he goes through in times when he is alone and has nothing to keep his mind off the pain. And nothing he does can mask or take away the pain. It is all irrelevant " Blue on Black, tears on a river, push on a shove, etc. And then the second part is him reliving the last thing or things that she said to him for the last time. Hes had enough and he comes to terms "blind now i see" with the fact that she is gone and never coming back. And there is nothing he can do about it once again because whatever he does is irrelevant because she will never change. Im going through a divorce right now so maybe I am seeing it through different eyes. But this song is helping me out alot. I always thought it was just a bad ass upbeat song and never listened to the words really until recently. Now its an even more badass song that not only has bad ass music but heart, soul, and realness. I know the guy who wrote this experienced alot of pain and put it into lyrics. Awesome, thats what real music is about. Its the difference between just a catchy pop song that is only written to sell records and true music. Pretty much all of Kenny Wayne Shepherd songs are that way. Dying breed.....
