Dead Dreams Lyrics

To me, it's a song about a failed relationship and Winston's reaction after the fact.

Kill the lights Im so sick of your face Another nigth wasted wishing you away Now im cut, im cut at the wrists but i still cant kill the pain

  • To me, this is him being tormented by her. He sees her (perhaps in a room, which is where the "kill the lights" line came from) and he's tired of running into her. Another night now will be spent trying to stop thinking of her. So, he cuts his wrists, but the emotional pain blocks out the physical pain.

Id give anything to rip you from my head From my head The return of your voice marks another failure And i can feel your blades closing on my back Ill savour this one last taste, this taste of sanity As it clutches, tearing at my heart This is my final act of desperation

  • He's desperate to get her out of his head. When he hears her voice, it only deepens his thoughts of her, causing his attempts at forgetting her to fail. He can still feel the betrayal that she put on him. Then, perhaps thoughts of suicide in the last couple lines?

One lost second gives way to disease Id give anything to rip you fro my head Cause i can feel you Creeping through me Like a sickness Your weakness Scars your ****ing face Scares your name

  • One lost second, to me, is him remembering the initial break up. Perhaps an argument where he didn't say the right thing or didn't say anything at all, and that is what caused it. Thoughts of her still creep through his entire being, like a sickness. Her weakness in how easy she gave up destroys her beauty (scars your fucking face) and her reputation (scares your name) with her.

As light fades to past Darkness wells against me But my shattered eyelids Refuse to close Your breathe is death to me

  • As the memories of her fade to the past once again, he's left in darkness. Although he has forgotten her, he doesn't know where to go. Her life itself, though, is dead to him. He doesn't care for her anymore.

That's just my take anyway.

Excellent interpretation! "Her life itself, though, is dead to him. He doesn't care for her anymore." Well, isn't that special (taken from a Saturday Night routine:) Send me a message and we can discuss music. I'll have my own interpretation to provide.
