Oh, and if you haven't read the book, Roquentin is the main character and he is going through an existential crisis. Anny is a former lover whom he meets in a hotel room. She talks about how Roquentin asked commitment to "moments." Her whole life she has been trying to create some sort of perfect moment... acting through her life as opposed to living through it. Anny obviously is a stage actor though, and not a writer like the narrator of this song. Anny is not really an admirable character though, arguably. As previously stated, she goes through life assigning roles to people sometimes "out of their league," as though not valuing relationships and seeing people as merely her playthings. Though she does go through some sort of transformation, she is just as self-centered and patronizing as before. She "outlives" herself.
