I fell in love with this song as I fell in love with the movie it is in, Teenage Dirtbag. I've got to say, I was amazed by the soundtrack for the movie, becuase all the songs they choice were so fitting towards the story, lyric wise and music wise. Especially this song. It's the perfect song to plat at the credits.

"Waking up in the turning tide Was easier than living in your eyes, my love. And the paper let me use its face To tell you of all my disgrace." -- This is my favorite verse in the song. In the movie, the main character Thayer, a troubled and misunderstood teenage boy, supposedly drowns in a river. The first half of this verse is saying that dieing was actually easier than living in the world where he felt constantly and silently judged by Amber, the pretty, popular girl in his study hall and creative writing class who he formed a unstable friendship with and couldn't get to admit that she loved him, as he loved her. The second part of this verse is referring to the relationship they had through paper and writing. In study hall, they would write and pass notes to each other, where they formed a closeness and Thayer revealed things about himself and his brutal home life. The paper allowed him to do this.

I don't want to give the whole movie away, but I will just conclude by saying that this song is absolutely beautiful, and Teenage Dirtbag is a beautiful (and in fact my favorite) movie, which I HIGHLY recommend.
