I really like the original of this song, by Lords of the New Church, but I LOVE this version. Melanie Pain's voice just does it.
I'm sure what I get from the lyrics is what most people probably get. Despite whether or not this person is bad for her, she want's them anyway. She wants the burning passion that comes with them. She wants them to take a chance with her, and allow themselves in to her world, and her's into theirs.
My only difference with you is all the passion comes from within the speaker, not the person looked at. The person looked at hardly matters. They are "hardly real at all." So the song is about a sense of overwhelming passion and power coming from within that is scary, and maybe dangerous--"against the law."
