I just listened to this song 4x in a row and here's what I got: Love is not a guarantee. This guy, and maybe her too, have problems with commitment. Afraid to settle, they're always looking for the next best thing, but that can be a lonely life. Go along for the ride, and don't worry about what you're missing, because it usually turns out to be shallow and unfulfilling anyway. It seems like she leaves at one point, but they reunite, which leads me to believe they find something worth fighting for. Who knows how long it will last...that's not the point. They are in love in the here and now and that's what matters.
