From the first time I heard this song, I was mesmerized by the lyrics and the arrangement of the music.
And also, from the first time I heard it - I had always interpreted the word 'Bedshaped' as in 'Dreaming'. Which makes sense to me, because he talks about things he and this other person will do (in his dreams) - 'bedshaped' but that the dreams have 'legs of stone' - meaning they will never do the things he dreams of. I am probably wrong about my take on this, but this is how I always understood this song...
@lilyluvjones Same here. I first heard the song Bedshaped when I was listening to my CD Live Earth - The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis Disc 2. It's track #7. I had never heard of Keane or the song. The song blew my mind and it had such a big sound. I thought the group Keane would have been a 4 or 5 piece as the sound was so big. I then consulted Dr Google about both the group Keane and the song Bedshaped. I'm a 58 year young Kiwi [New Zealander] and I was particularly interested in the...

I'm a 58 year young Kiwi [New Zealander] and I was particularly interested in the lyrics; 'In legs of stone' - as in 1990 I had my near-death motorcycle accident aged 26 and ultimately I lost my entire left leg as high up as possible i.e. my hip and left side pelvis were amputated. Plus I suffered several other serious internal injuries. I spent 3 weeks in the ICU [intensive care unit] and a total of 101 days in hospital here in New Zealand. Doctors & surgeons who saved my life believed my high fitness level contributed greatly to me surviving. At the time I was a very successful road cyclist, triathlete, and marathon runner. I have always loved music and today I love listening to Bedshaped - if you haven't heard the version from Live Earth I suggest you do - as it sounds completely different to the album version. I also enjoy other English groups James, New Order, The Cure, The Cult, The Clash and many more including Pink Floyd. In 1988 I traveled to London on my O.E. [overseas experience] from here in New Zealand. On Saturday August 6 '88 I saw Pink Floyd play Wembley Stadium London. The lighting & props show was phenomenal - very high tech & advanced for '88. I rated the gig easily the best I have ever been to.
