This song makes me think of my ex and my relationship. We started dating in the middle of sophomore year and our relationship was great for most of it. We had great memories and we had a lot of fun. We dedicated songs to each other and our relationship was almost perfect. Then things got rough and we ended up having a messy break up. It wasn't easy to move on and in all honesty I don't even think I've completely moved on yet, but I haven't let it affect my life. His life, on the other hand, went downhill. We broke up mainly because of his actions and choices and he turned to drugs and alcohol over the summer, causing our relationship to get rough, and even more so after we broke up. His life plummeted and he is dealing with an endless number of problems right now. If he kept his life straightened out the entire time, we could still be together today. He "got away" to drugs and alcohol. He pretty much tried to forget about the memories we made and what we had but he can't. He now begs for me back but I know that it will never be the same as it was before. He got away, and he can't come back.
