What intrigued me the most in the song was the line "If you love somebody, you love them all the same". This line was repeated over and over in the song. It got me thinking. I feel he is trying to comfort the girl. She probably had a very bad heartbreak in the past, and now feels she may not love somebody again, not as deeply as she did that time. She fears that she is dead inside. That is why he repeats "I feel your heartbeat". He is trying to tell her "If you love somebody, you love them the same". No matter how much pain you have been through, when you fall in love again, its as beautiful as it was the first time.

"Oh you gotta fire and it's burnin' in the rain. Thought that it went out, but it's burnin' just the same. And you don't look back, not for anything. 'Cause you love someone, you love them all the same. If you LOVE someone, you love them all the same."

This para again points to the same direction. He's telling her that you still have a fire in you, and though its under rain (heartbreak) and you thought it has been put out, its still burning the same. And you don't have to look back to what you had, cause when you love someone, you love just the same.
