We will call the guy in the parentheses person A, for simplicity. The person in the first verse not in parentheses is person B. Person B is a girl, obviously, who is dating the guy in the second verse not in parentheses, person C. Person A is talking to person B about how her boyfriend is ill. She's taking care of him, and she isn't doing well. She tells him not to worry about her, she's okay.
The second verse is the girl's boyfriend, person C, who is really sick, as stated. He's worried about his girlfriend spending all her time on him and trying to make him better and not taking any care of herself. She asks person A to help her, but tells him that he's okay, he doesn't need any help.
In the third verse, person A is the guy not in parentheses. The other person, who I suppose is person D since I don't think they are either of the other two, is concerned about person A, who I'm supposing is suicidal, but person A just tells him just worry about himself, person A is fine. Person D responds with, no, it's not that simple, it's bigger than just you.
And of course, we bring this all together. Every one of these people is going through trauma, problems, things they can't deal with by themselves. What do they do? They tell everyone else they're okay, they can deal with their problems by themselves, help someone who needs it. "Everyone wants to feel safe in the dark". Everyone wants to feel safe in misery. Everyone wants to work things out by themselves. We all want to be strong. We never want the help we so desperately need.
