I think the meaning of the song is very clear without need for extra interpretation; the lyrics supply their own meaning. We will get extra context when the film comes out, however, in terms of the part played by the various birds in the story. After all, the three birds can be seen in the Imaginaerum symbol, so they must be important. ;-)

Correction as Estelindis said and "Wisdom nor pride" and "Beauty nor rest".

This song - in fact pretty much the whole album - really gets to me. The music and the lyrics are so beautifully written, with such immense passion and feeling, I can almost imagine Tuomas sitting alone by an attic window weeping as he wrote it - it's deep as hell. I'm only 26, but I get the theme of having lost connection with childhood and just yearning for that innocence. This is so different from anything Nightwish have done before, but at the moment...
