Actually, the ones above are the correct lyrics. The original version is the one written by Boz Scaggs which he wrote in 1976.

Rita Coolidge changed the lyrics of the song to "close your eyes and dream" in her 1977 version. Frankie Valli was the first cover of the song as followed by Canadian singer's version by Bruce Murray in 1977.

The meaning of the song is about forgiving past loves and throwing one's caution to the wind. Dee7's comment i believe is most apt.

Rita also sings "Owe it to the wind" instead of "Throw it to the wind".

Does Boz also sing this, or does he sing "Throw" that sounds like "Owe"?

"Throw" makes more sense lyrically.

Boz says "throw it to the wind". Rita's lyrics don't make as much sense to me as the original.
