I've said it once or twice,
I'm coming down to show you the way to live with my hand.
Inner me, I know you are killing me from inside.
You can laugh but don't waste my time.
Your path's a mistake, you cannibal.
Don't believe me, cause I'm already dead.
Don't believe me, I'll take it to the bitter end.
I've been waiting to show you life abundantly.
So, I'll end this talk of who I really am and who I really ought to be.
I won't let you fall back down to the ways that you wanted to escape.
My love, take my hand, I'll show to you everything.
It's not who I am and who you want to.
Inner me, I know you are killing me from inside.
You can laugh but don't waste my time.
Your path's a mistake, you cannibal,
For the sake of failing (filling?) you, my God still lives.
Roll with the pack, my God; who will make all wrongs right again?
Roll with the pack, My Son Who Will Make Wrongs Right Again
I'll show you grace like you never have seen.
I'll show you grace.
These lyrics are a relatively awesome paraphrase of the gospel. Many Christians hold that Jesus descended to earth to show people "how to live" (see the first line), so the song is from God's perspective. Many other lyrics support my theory.
I've been waiting to show you life abundantly - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10.
Your path's a mistake, you cannibal - Calling people cannibals was an early misunderstanding/mockery of Christians due to their practice of communion, where they symbolically ate jesus's flesh and drank his blood. Many modern day Evangelicals look down on the belief of transubstantiation, belief that partaking in the Eucharist actually means just that.
Inner me, you know you are killing me down inside - Jesus claimed his followers would reside in God and he in them. Many of his listeners ended up being his killers, or at least people he died for.
I'll end this talk of who I really am and who I ought to be - Jesus was a doer, not just a talker. Many people rejected him because he did not fit their expectations for the Messiah. Little did they know that their expectations were wrong, so Jesus definitely understood and instead just showed them.
I won't let you fall back down to the ways you want to escape - Jesus promises freedom from the bondage that sin creates. Jesus promised that he had been given power and that he could not lose those that were given to him.
Roll with the pack, my son who will make all wrongs right again - The ultimate purpose of Jesus's incarnation was redemption, a righting of all things wrong since the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Forgiveness of sins was part of that, redeeming man's relationship with God.
Austin Carlile has openly claimed Christianity from stage before. He certainly understands the gospel. I've read elsewhere that he expresses quite the Messiah Complex, as well.
