"If all our life is but a dream Fantastic posing greed" Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea"

If our lives really mean nothing, great! But why are we all so damn greedy then? Lets throw away everything but the necessities and not worry so much about appearances.

"For diamonds do appear to be Just like broken glass to me"

The things that are beautiful to the world, like cheap sex and money, are not beautiful to me, but dangerous, as broken glass is dangerous.

"And then she said she cant believe Genius only comes along in storms of fabled foreign tongues Tripping eyes and flooded lungs"

His girl says to him that she's shocked there are no geniuses in America. They are all either foreign ("fabled foreign tongues"), perverted or misguided ("tripping eyes"), or dead ("flooded lungs").

"Northern downpour sends its love"

Northern downpour is his tears over what's she said about this because it makes him feel unimportant to her. (It's farfetched but it makes sense to me.)

"Hey moon, please forget to fall down Hey moon, dont you go down"

When the moon goes down, the night will end. He wants the night to last because he is hidden and alone so he can mourn and be his own man, and he is shielded from the greed and superficiality of others.

"Sugarcane in the easy morning Weathervanes my one and lonely"

These are memories of the better times, a sharp contrast to the first verse. The first verse represents life as a man, and this portion represents memories of childhood. Everything was sweet and easy, and there was always a clear direction.

"The ink is running toward the page Its chasing off the days Look back at both feet and that winding knee"

This portion has something to do with his life with the girl, and the memories they shared. He's asking her not to move east by telling her to think of their times together.

"I missed your skin when you were east You clicked your heels and wished for me"

I missed my girl when she moved away from me but she said she still wanted me. I followed her east because I missed seeing her in person and being together with her phhysically.

"Through playful lips made of yarn That fragile Capricorn Unravelled words like moths upon old scarves"

The girl is a Capricorn, which may or may not hold some certain signifigance to Urie. It may simply be a way to refer to the girl without name. He says that the girl is fragile but playful, and her lips are capable of saying things about the past that really damage him and upset him. By saying that the words are like moths upon old scarves, he means that the words are eating away slowly and leaving holes in his heart. The entire stanza means that though the girl was fragile and not meaning to hurt something playfully said about the past began to eat away at him like moths on scarves.

"I know the worlds a broken bone But melt your headaches call it home"

Basically, the world sucks, but I moved east for this girl. Is she worth it? Hell if I know. Just try to forget the bad things, and make it feel like home.

"You are at the top of my lungs Drawn to the ones who never yawn"

The girl is in him. He may be yelling or crying her name, but even though he fled back home to the west, she still gets to him. But she is drawn to the men who will never "yawn". This may mean they will never grow tired of her or bore her, and it implies that she grew tire of him or he of her before he left for the west again.
