Right on freakingchic. I love this song as well and bought it off Itunes after hearing on the radio; at first I thought it was a straight-forward love song hearing the chorus 'don't you break my heart' After reading the rest of the lyrics I see its talking about another kind of love altogether. 'Years ago I met my lover on the banks of the stormy Jordan' - Christ was baptized in the Jordan River. On the whole the song just talks about how God meant something to him at a point earlier in life, but he lost it somewhere along the way which is not hard to do with all the garbage this world throws at you. Society on the whole has collectively left God behind; God used to be the fabric of our existence but now God is just something a some people do on the side. I think he is reflecting on the fact that God created us, and in his image in fact; and if we lost sight of that and how much value it carries we have lost part of our identity and our ability to love completely as God is the origin of love. The line at the end of the second verse says it all 'if we've all forgotten You, are we all forgotten to?'
