Hearing Damage Lyrics

What a haunting track. I love the hallucinogenic atmosphere that his echoing back vocals and weird quivering synths create. I think the track definitely applies to schizophrenics because of the "voices" in one's head, but I think it can also apply for anyone who experiences that voice in your head chastising you for your failures and your inadequacies etc. The "voices...wanna push you off the path," this could apply to anything from fidelity to other simpler promises, and so all this creates a struggle and a "restless mind." A recovering individual who suffers from some sort of affliction comes to mind when he says "They say you're getting better But you don't feel any better."

God this song is so awesome!

@aimeeviolette Awesome response, Aimee...I just 'rediscovered' this amazing song (out of my library of 15,000-plus songs!) a few days ago, after re-watching the "Twilight" film in which I first heard it close to a decade ago now.

I concur 100% with your numerous analyses of the meaning of the song's lyrics & the second possibility of them (chastising myself for not always fully utilising my many abilities/qualities that I was given & instead succumbing to either laziness, arrogance, infidelity &/or cocaine abuse - hard to knock back when it's always free & lovely!!) applies to me BIG-TIME!!...
