Lyric discussion by FinnWithaFin

I hear these lyrics tell about a person who is trying to hide his/her homosexuality.. especially because of the chorus where she sings 'colors of the rainbow'.

"Oh & now I just read one earlier comment written by Perplexity07.. "This song is about her sister who was a lezbian. I guess supposibly her sister wasn't accepted by a lot of people in her family and others. But her sister was saying that she could see her true colors, and she was beautiful just the way she was.

She was saying that she would always be there for her, no matter what. She loved her, and didn't care if she was a 500 lb. gorilla, she would always love her for who she was."

..so hurray, I was right with my assumption.

You might not be accepted either if you called yourself a "lezbian." ;) Never heard Cyndi say this song was about her sister, but I suppose it could be. It's a great song regardless of who she wrote it about. I like to think it's about everyone who, at one time or another, feels as though s/he is an outkast. We've all been there...some more often than others. The song's also about strength...standing tall when you feel as though you are in the thick of things and cannot go on...

Colors of the rainbow would represent all races; ethnic groups; individuals; etc. Although the rainbow flag did exist in the 1980's to represent homosexuality, the song is not specifically about homosexuality.
