Interesting song. I can't imagine the person in the song feeling this way after so many months (years?) of communication; friendship; surviving strife; arguing; feelings of love; etc. I can understand it if the person is talking about others, but usually in life there is at least one person who knows us quite well and who loves us regardless of all the stupid shit we've done (reminds me of a song:). That's where I am lost...it makes little sense to me. And what's with that "normal" word. I have yet to meet even one "normal" person. Each of us is screwed up in one way or another. It's all about degrees and the ability to hide our issues. I can't hide mine (can't hide being obnoxious; boring; and fat:) Seems to me the person in the song has the "grass is always greener" take on life. The friggin' grass goes from green to brown to tan depending upon the season, and I happen to love the many shades of grass (and of imperfect man). As for offering a hand, people need to open up and allow others to offer them a hand every so often. This idea that we need to be an island to be strong is ludichrist. But this song is quite good, and now I must REALLY go to bed. I will be awakened by a sick child no later than 6 AM and he'll be wanting pancakes and bacon.
