I love this song... It's my favorite on the album. I wish it had more comments.

As for the meaning... It's a very dramatic-sounding song, and I thought it was about literally running away from the law, until I read the lines "I've thought a lot about the way that they fight/Come through the phone lines, not man enough to face me." Sounds a lot like it could be about digital harassment. I think the victim of the harassment maybe got in an arguement with these people and gave a less-than-satisfactory opinion ("I've said what I'm gonna say"), and now they're sending him nasty texts or calling him withholding caller ID. But this is a strong person, and frankly they could care less about what they have to say about him ("I know all about it, but my heart us strong") - he knows he's better than them if they get so worked up about a view they disagree with. Now he's just trying to avoid them.

I don't know about the whole "Fear is like a fake friend" verse though, but I think it's brilliant and often find myself singing it in the shower. :)

My Interpretation

i think that your right, but the "fear is like your best/fake friend" is that he got into a fight with his friends and/or best friend and they turn on him after "taking him in"
