Ringo claims that this song was inspired by a dinner he had with his pal Marc Bolan (of T. Rex fame) who ostensibly was saying the word "boogaloo" repeatedly. He thus contradicted the prevailing legend that was his entry into the ex-Beatles' intramural feuding, played out in the four members' songs directed at each other in the early years after the 1970 breakup (i.e., Paul's "Too Many People," a poke at John, John's snide response to Paul with "How Do You Sleep At Night," and George's entering the fray with "Wah Wah"). In this version, this was Ringo's jibe at Paul, supposedly nicknamed "Boogaloo," for initiating lawsuits to end the Beatles' business and artistic partnerships
