I think it's about a person who is/was involved with someone who is leaving/left them. They're afraid that one this person leaves they won't see them again. "Will you come back? When you ever get the chance?"
Assuring the someone they'll not try to push them back into a relationship in the line: "No funny stuff, We'll just catch up."
Each time I hear the line "But no, no, no, we know each other far too well" they seem to realize they're being unrealistic again.
"Once all the flames have passed and our blood turns to ash" "We can talk again, our kids can be friends." They are so into this someone they are willing to settle for friendship after their feelings fade.
"Lover, Please, If you really must leave will you flash thoses eyes my way one more time even if it sets this room on fire" It seems this whole time they were desperately clinging for more time with this person. But now they're beginning to let go of them and accept things completely.
